Multiplayer game lobby
Players create or join a room with a short code, see who's in, mark themselves ready, and the game starts for everyone at once.
The problem this solves
The hardest part of a multiplayer game is getting everyone into the same place at the same time. A lobby with a code, a player list and a ready check is how every party game starts.
What you end up with
Create room gives a four-letter code, and friends type it to join. Everyone sees the player list update live and taps Ready; when all are ready, the host presses Start and the game opens on every screen together. Empty rooms clean themselves up.
How it works
- A player creates a room and gets a short code.
- Friends type the code to join, and the player list updates for everyone.
- Each player taps Ready.
- When everyone's ready, the host starts the game for all at once.
- Rooms nobody is in disappear on their own.
Build this in your app
Insight asks a few questions first, so it fits your app.
Built from
Key-value store (shared temporary state)
PlatformOne shared place for the short-lived information your whole app needs to agree on, like login sessions, one-time codes, game lobbies, or a live 'who is online' list. Every copy of your app sees the same data the moment it changes, it can expire on its own, and there are no servers for you to run. For anything that must be kept permanently, use the database.
Realtime (live updates, chat, presence)
PlatformAdd live features that update the moment something changes, with no refresh, like chat, typing indicators, a live 'who is online' list, and instant notifications. DontCode runs the live connection for you, so there is nothing to set up or keep running.
